Writing Tips and Creative Writing
Find writing tips to help you improve your creative writing.
"Without words, without writing and without books there would be no history, there could be no concept of humanity." - Hermann Hesse
Put life into your writing
It’s very easy to get lost in your story and carried away with bland words and sentence construction. Likewise, it’s easy to write garbage. Deadlines, getting board with a current piece, and other causes can lead to lifeless writing. There’s no reason that should happen to you.
Writing is Diverse
There are so many aspects to writing. Your writing should have characters, conflict, dialogue, description, emotion, realization, intrigue, color, and so many others. Good writing has everything and you don’t have to think about it when you read it. Any writer should want to hear, “That was so good! I just can’t describe it!”
Include everything you can, but only what you need until you get it right!
Writing should be entertaining
It might not be everyone’s goal, to entertain the reader. The writer wants to provoke different feelings in the reader through their writing, but is that why someone decides to read a book?
When I want to read a book, I am looking for some sort of entertainment. It is something I like to do and I love to put myself into the story. I get enjoyment out of reading. I think that is why anyone reads unless it is for school.
You want people to like what you read. Some people don’t write to appeal to the reader. They have a story they want to tell and just want to get it down on paper.
Take your time and put effort into your work. That is the only way it will be good. If you are happy with it, you should develop a fan of readers.
Don’t let writing be boring just because it seems like it should be
I’ve read several books that have necessary description. These are the parts that are critical to the story. It wouldn’t make sense without it. The problem is, it’s so long, boring, and tedious.
You have to find a way to give life to these long and boring parts. As a reader, I often think these parts are worthless until I realize they weren’t later on.
Creative writing takes talent and practice. If you are weak in either, the best you can do is practice more. Don’t think of creative writing as a science. There is no formula or “how-to” for creative writing. That goes against what creativity is. It is the ability to transcend traditional rules, ideas, patterns or relationships.
There is no formula for creative writing so your writing shouldn’t read like you followed a formula. Remember to be unique and write well.
