Different ways to journal
There are many different ways to journal. To decide which type of journaling is right for you, you need to decide why you are journaling and writing.
D you want to improve your writing?
If you are here reading this, most likely you like to write and want to improve your skills in some way. There are many ways you can do this by keeping a journal.
- Write everyday
Journaling is a perfect way to make sure you are writing everyday, especially if you are very busy and often find it hard to find the time to write. If this is your sole purpose, write whatever you want. Write stories, poems, what is going on in your life, how you feel, or anything else you want.
- Improve your skills
If you want to take journaling a little farther, use it for practice. Improve your skills by working on individual aspects of writing. If you find you are a little weak on dialogue, write down and embellish on a conversation you heard today.
If you can’t get a story to start out right, spend some time writing several story openers.
Do you want to improve your life?
While keeping a journal isn’t guaranteed to be life changing, it can be used to relieve stress, deal with problems, and help you cope with life. Writing down your feelings can help you sort them out, but it is not a replacement for talking with someone you trust.
